Are you looking for lots of new ideas to make your daily life more sustainable? Then the annual Project Green Challenge (PGC) might just be for you.
PGC 2017 runs from October 1st to 30th but you can join in anytime during the 30-day journey to become informed, inspired, mobilized and empowered to change the world.
What Is the Project Green Challenge?
Frequent readers of our site already know that our daily habits, choices and behaviors can have (sometimes significant) environmental impacts. In 2011, the mother-daughter duo, Judi Shils and Erin Schrode, along with a team of students, partners and sponsors, developed Project Green Challenge, a 30-day call to action geared toward students that features daily environmentally-themed challenges.
PGC wants to mobilize youth to take action and inspire them to "transition their daily lives from conventional to conscious and understand the significance of each choice we make every day." New challenges are published each of the 30 days, and this year PGC will feature GRACE's own Seasonal Food Guide and Water Footprint Calculator, as well as Meatless Monday.
Who Can Participate in PGC 2017?
Since PGC launched, it has engaged over 30,000 students directly and tens of millions indirectly on more than 2,000 campuses in all 50 states and 45 countries. You don't have to be a student to participate - the challenges are open to anyone. Students are eligible for daily prizes and the PGC Finals, but all participants can share their experiences through their favorite social networks.
Making a difference for the planet begins with individual actions, so take the challenge. Challenge your friends. Challenge your families. Discover which topics speak to you so that you can continue creating change long after PGC comes to an end.
